The Chosen Red Devil?

From Portugal with love, arrives at Old Trafford, the one and only, Jose Mourinho,  as the new head coach of Manchester United. After the departure of Louis van Gaal, United was fortunate enough to find a better replacement. Jose Mourinho has signed a 3 year contract and has also been given an option to stay till 2020 if his results are astounding enough.

Mourinho’s record as a manager speaks for itself, though. Since 2003, he has won a total of 22 trophies – league titles and cups in Portugal, Spain, England and Italy has made him quite the looker for young talent as he has traveled all over and, of course, not to mention the 2 UEFA Champions’ League titles, once with Inter Milan and once with FC Porto. Winning 3 English Premier League titles makes him very suitable for the club which has won the most number of Premier Leagues. He is regarded as the best manager of this time and has also been awarded as the best Portugese manager of the century.

The Chosen One has created some of the best players we know in the world of football. Many might disagree with his unpredictable tactics and unorthodox methods but he gets the job done, more or less. He worked with United’s rival, Chelsea, previously and has had both success and failures there. From blue to red, the step was indeed something no one would have predicted a few years ago. But you know what they say, under acidic conditions, blue litmus turns red.

Mourinho said, “To become Manchester United manager is a special honor in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match. I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years.”

The changes he has lined up will be very crucial for the club. Since United won’t be participating in the UEFA Champions’ League in the coming season, this will give Mourinho and his men more time to think and work out plans to dominate the league and qualify for the UEFA Champions’s League. From the looks of things, his arch nemesis, Pep Guardiola will be appointed as the head manager of the rival club, Manchester City. Great things are are expected from the Chosen One as his reputation is on the line with one of the biggest sporting clubs in the world.
